Wrestling Program
Folkstyle and Free Style
At DURO, our Wrestling Program is led by Coach Josh, a highly accomplished athlete and mentor. As a 4-time state qualifier, 3-time state place winner, and 2-time state finalist, he played a key role in securing 4 Group 1 State Championships. His national achievements include top placements at the Fargo Freestyle Nationals, Super 32, and Flonationals, finishing high school ranked among the top 5 wrestlers in the country. Now at DURO, Coach Josh brings his expertise and passion to guide the next generation of grapplers.
Designed for all ages and skill levels, our program offers small class sizes for personalized coaching that focuses on technique, strength, and mental toughness. Guest instructors further enrich the experience, bringing fresh perspectives and specialized knowledge. Rooted in DURO’s core values of community, resilience, perseverance, growth, and faith, we help wrestlers unlock their inner champion while building confidence, discipline, and technical skill—both on and off the mat.
Martial Arts Program
Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Boxing
At DURO, our Mixed Martial Arts Program offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. We believe martial arts should be accessible to all, allowing you to progress at your own pace while enjoying the journey. Whether you're looking to improve your fitness, learn self-defense, or challenge yourself, our program provides the perfect opportunity. Under this category, we offer Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Boxing classes, all designed to meet your unique goals.
Our small, intimate class sizes ensure you receive personalized attention from highly skilled instructors dedicated to helping you succeed. The program is further enriched by talented guest instructors who share their expertise, offering fresh perspectives and inspiring our students. At DURO, we emphasize more than just physical training—we help individuals connect to their inner strength and achieve a harmonious balance between mind, body, and spirit. By creating an inclusive, supportive, and transformative environment, DURO’s mixed martial arts program offers an exceptional experience for all who participate.
The Origin of "Duro"
At Duro Wrestling and Martial Arts, the name "Duro" carries a deeper, personal significance. It began with the encouraging voice of our co-founder's mother, who, during his early wrestling days, would cheer, "Duro Joshua, Duro!"—a rallying cry that resonated with strength, resilience, and endurance.
"Duro," meaning "hard" or "durable" in Spanish, became a mantra that guided Josh through the rigors of youth wrestling, high school and college competitions, and eventually, MMA. It was the voice of his parents, instilling him with the spirit of perseverance, that inspired him to push harder, fight stronger, and never give up.
When it came time to name our gym, the choice was clear. Duro Martial Arts and Performance Training is a tribute to the unwavering support of our founder’s parents, a testament to his journey as a young athlete, and a symbol of the resilience we aim to cultivate in every individual who walks through our doors.

What Emma has accomplished with just about 9 months of wrestling experience has been incredible to watch she is improving everyday. We are very proud of Emma for taking 5th at the State Championships her very first wrestling season! Her only 2 losses of the year being to 2nd & 3rd Place Finishers. It is a testament to her commitment & work ethic! Lookout for Emma as she looks to continue her run going into Freestyle Season! 👀 🇵🇷
Congratulations to our guy Rhett! A monkey off our back! Rhett displayed a great hand fight and tough top wrestling on his way to taking 7th in the State. Rhett is looking forward to putting the work in to the climb the podium next year!

Morgan had an incredible weekend! This guy is a hard worker, and it shows, plus he’s fun to watch! He took 6th in the State! Injury prevented him from wrestling 5/6 match but looking forward to scrapping soon and putting work in to get even higher on that podium!
Gavin is 2x State Finalist! A great accomplishment and looked dominant throughout his entire season and tournament! Not only is he a great wrestler but one of the best kids you’ll ever meet. Look out for Gavin as he continues his Academic and Athletic career at the Princeton University! 🐅
No shortcuts. No secrets. Just heart, hustle, and hard work. These wrestlers put it together, and the climb to the top of the podium for next year starts now.
